Studio Policies
My first initial consultation is free.
The rates at the Studio depend on the length of lessons. Contact me for a quote, please:
All payments are due at the beginning of each month for the month ahead. I strongly encourage my students’ parents to be present at our lessons, so that they would observe our entire process and could better supervise children’s practicing at home. Students are expected to commit to a regular routine of at-home preparation.
The classes should not be missed, unless something serious or unexpected happens, like an illness or severe weather. If you know that you will have to miss a class, please, inform me at least 24 hours in advance. If there is a reasonable excuse for a class to be missed, I offer a make-up lesson within the same month, if we find a day that is mutually convenient. If it is hard to find such a day, we can have this make-up lesson at the end of the semester.
I supply just a part of necessary materials free. You will have to purchase the rest of the books, which we will use regularly. I also ask all of my students to have a regular notebook for writing down their homework and making notes about their progress. This helps the students, me, and the parents to keep track of all our activities. Consider it our document, a journal, log. I ask to keep it clean, never lose it, and bring it every time you come to a lesson.
I strongly encourage you to consider having an acoustic piano if you don’t have one. Electric instruments don’t have the same physical characteristics and feel, and they don’t respond to typical piano articulations same way as acoustic instruments. Besides, the electronic sustain pedal is a really poor imitation of the real thing.
When my students work really well, sometimes I give them extra time as a bonus.
